Study on Dissolution Characteristics of Indomethacin-Ethylcellulose Microcapsules

Abstract
Indomethacin-ethylcellulose microcapsules(IDM-MC) were prepared by solvent evaporation method using sod. lauryl sulfate(SLS) as a surfactant.
In case of IDM-MC prepared with various rations of ethylcellulose(EC) and polyethylene glycon 4000(PEG 4000) in 0.25% SLS solution, drug content of IDM-MC were 17.80% to 21.25%, while those of IDM-MC prepared using EC in various concentrations of SLS solution were 11.25% to 16.06%.
Scanning Electron Microgram showed that the IDM-MC were almost spherical and had pores on the surface.
Particle size distributions of IDM-MC were relatively regular.
The dissolution rates of IDM from the IDM-MC retarded considerable compared with that of IDM powder; the dissolution of IDM was more than 90% within 1 hour, but those of IDM from IDM-MC were about 20 to 70% within 24 hours. And, the dissolution of IDM from IDM-MC prepared with EC: PEG 4000=1:1 and stirred in 30(w/w)% glycerin solution was more twice than those of IDM from IDM-MC prepared without PEG 4000.
